"Of course I know how to speak Hakka, I am aboriginales in the Xiu Hang village. You can see the big frame banner in front, that is it"

'.. I am not Hakka people whom settle down here, I just live here for many years...'

   A man busy stacking his newspaper in front of his old house told us that.

"We have already settled down here since our grandpa generation...I still talk to my friends of my generation in Hakka even they have moved out...Certainly I feel delighted when I hear some people (not from my click) speak Hakka too..."

We have also conducted a more comprehensive and elabroate interview with  Vanus' mother. 

 

Below you could find out about our participant, Vanus' mother,a 50 years old female working in the business sector, possess high school education background and was born in GuangXi, China.  She stayed in Hong Kong almost for 26 years. She spoke Guanxi Hakka as her first language, GuangXi local dialect, Ping Hua, Mandarin and Cantonese. She is going to share about her thoughts on GuangXi Hakka in terms of usage and her preference under several social situations and settings.  

" nobody speaks Hakka, even though I am from Guangxi. I speak Cantonese most of the time even in China (GuangXi). Most of the villagers have moved out. I moved out from the village after staying for 5 years because of my job as l.

" i was here since I was 6-7 years old. I won't moved out as I have lived here for almost 60 years. Of course I understand Hakka but no point of speaking it...There are used to be people spoke that last time...but I speak only cantonese..."
